Pizza is one of the four major food groups and it’s a “fact” that humans cannot survive without at least one pizza per week. Nashville is a great pizza destination but there are a large number of pretenders so this quick and dirty guide will give you a quick heads up. You won’t find Pizza Hut or Jet’s on this list, just great, delicious, value pizza joints in Nashville.
Best Pizza in Nashville
Gondola House is currently ranked #1 on Trip Advisor for restaurants in Hermitage and their pizza is one of the very good reasons for this. They claim they use the highest quality 00 flour and use secret techniques to bring out a unique and wonderful flavor and I’m not going to argue with them. The crust is crispy and delicious and exactly what you would hope for from a premium pizza. Check out our full review for more details but certainly drop in for a pizza, I guarantee you won’t regret it.
MAFIAoZA’s is a 1920s New York-style Italian restaurant that cooks their pizzas in a stone oven with a lot of love. They are rightly proud of their fresh, seasonal ingredients and the fantastic vibe you can get here any day of the week. Choose your pizza any way you want it but I’d recommend the Last Request! There are great 2 for 1 deals on Sundays and Tuesdays and happy hour Wednesday to Friday 4 until 7 – 2 for 1 draft bee! Can’t go wrong!
Five Points Pizza
“Our NY style dough is made from scratch daily, aged in-house, hand-tossed, and topped with our hand-crushed plum tomato sauce and house shredded mozzarella. We bake each pizza to order on 2” bricks, in old-school gas-fired deck ovens.”
A quote straight from the horse’s mouth that sums up the quality of the NY style pizza on offer here. The beer selection alone is worth a visit, but when you pair this with something like the 18″ Zeus, you’re in for a great evening! Multiple award winners, Five Points is a definite inclusion in the finest pizza in Nashville list.
Two Boots started off in the home of NY pizza – New York in 1987 and expanded throughout the area as the locals fell in love with their authentic New York Pie, Arriving in Nashville in 2013, it hasn’t lost any of the genuine exuberance that is cooked into each and every pizza they serve. We have visited here several times and never found the quality of food lacking. With a great and unique variety of specialities, I’d recommend trying the Newman or the Bayou Beast!
Pizza Perfect has been a stalwart of Nashville since 1983 and having to compete with the dozen or so pizzerias around Belmont and Vanderbilt results in a fine offering for the pizza afficianados. Hot pizza and cold beer always make great bedfellows and with dough made fresh daily and a great selection of craft beers you really can’t go far wrong here. And with the bill coming in at around $20 for a large pizza and beer, the value is great too. Check it out on a Monday between 4 and 10pm for a great 2 for 1 deal on beer and slices!
Coco’s Italian Market & Ristorante
An authentic Italian food experience is assured. This family operated Italian can trace it’s roots back to the first restaurant they opened in 1965 that’s still going strong. The menu is packed full of delicious and genuine Italian treats but their pizza is my personal favorite. Their dough recipe and technique is awesome and results in a fabulously crispy and tasty meal. Try the Pizza Capricciosa with four baked eggs, sausage and pepperoni… Special offer on Tuesday nights from 5 to 9pm – first pint of draft beer $1 with any pizza purchase!
NY Pie is the brainchild of Greg Mayer who set up this bastion of fresh, hand tossed dough in 2010. His third pizzeria, this is a must-go destination for lovers of all things pizza. Try the NY Meat for a pepperoni, sausage, bacon, ground beef, Salami and Canadian bacon slice of heaven. Seriously, it’s that good, Well worth a drive out to Nashville West or Hendersonville. Trust me…
Kosmic Karma, the Magical Mystery Tour and the Philosopher’s Pie are three excellent reasons to visit this fun, delicious and, above all, mellow restaurant. We don’t often recommend large chains as they seem to often lose their magic after a few dozen iterations of the same thing but in this case there is most decidedly a reason to deviate. The Nashville location is fun, vibrant, good value and, most importantly, serves awesome food. There’s often events going on; from ladies night to poker night to karaoke. Something for everyone…
